Ang
Krus ng GOLGOTA
As followers of Christ, we are aware of
the personal crosses we carry. Sacrifice
has always been a part of our struggle in
faith, knowing that it is through our Saviour’s
own sacrifice that we are all saved.
During Lent of the year 2002, Msgr.
Romy Rañada decided to recreate
the last moments of Christ’s sacrifice
through a visual presentation for the Good
Shepherd’s Lenten Pastoral Visitation.
It is a special outreach event where the
Parish held street masses on different locations
around Fairview.
The Parish Youth Ministry (PYM)
were called to do this task, and they immediately
responded by gathering young people from
different youth organizations and volunteers
to form a collaboration of talents. The
project was called “The Way
of the Cross”, for every
location visited then was considered a “Station”
of the Cross. The youth became a big part
of this event for they gave more depth and
meaning to each “Station” by
their exceptional performances.
The following year, the PYM decided to
form a specific organization for this task
and it was called “Teatro
Ebanghelyo.” A group dedicated
to spread the Word of God through the performing
arts. It was also organized to meet up their
expectations made in the past year and to
lessen the tasks of the other youth organizations
as well. Gladly, with the help of the Parish
Music Ministry (PMM) and support
from many volunteer parishioners, it was
truly a better feat. A lot of improvements
were made, making the performances more
dynamic and vibrant. It was also the introduction
of original Filipino compositions by local
talents among the parishioners of Good Shepherd
for every station, thus making it a musical
presentation as well.
This year, it is an even bigger event,
as all of the stations and its compositions
have been merged into one big production
entitled “KRUS NG GOLGOTA”.
Before, the youth presented on the streets,
now everything will be done on a stage,
under bright lights and with powerful video
presentations.
But more than just a musical production,
“Krus ng Golgota” is a reminder
of the sacrifices and sufferings that Jesus
Christ lovingly endured for us. As we struggle
with the personal crosses that we carry,
may we be reminded that hope and salvation
have been borne for us…through that
cross in Golgotha…
