Friends Choir

The Friends Choir came into existence in 1976
through the initiative of a former member of the
People Precious and Few (PPF) Choir due to the
demands of increasing parishioners and the need
for a choir to sing in the regular Sunday afternoon
mass at 6:30 p.m.
Starting from a handful of 10 members, Mr. Romy
Serrano, the founder and guitarist led the choir’s
primal stage as a circle of friends, full of camaraderie
and sheer dedication in rendering church music,
hence the name “Friends” was formulated.
In its early years, the choir was gifted with
promising members with ages ranging from 12 to
30. Within two months, the Friends Choir debuted
at the Barangay Fiesta performing entertainment
songs in the show “Concert of the Choirs”
held at the Radio Veritas Auditorium.
In 1978, the Friends Choir received the Grand
Prize with the musical piece “The Lord Is
My Shepherd” at the parish-sponsored “Choir
Festival” held at Radio Veritas. This served
as a catalyst to broaden their goal not only in
spiritual service but also in the fields of socio-cultural
activities including outreach programs.
Looking back through the years of ups and downs,
the group is gloriously blessed by the Lord with
29 years of fulfilled community service.
