Block Rosary Movement
The Block Rosary Movement evolved from the mushrooming
of Block Rosary Units organized by the Legion
of Mary and lay leaders of the different streets.
As more units were created, the supervision and
coordination of the activities became increasingly
difficult for the Legionaries to manage. So on
August 15, 1976, Msgr. Fidelis Limcaco
(then Father Fidelis), officially inducted
the Directorate of the Block Rosary Organization
to coordinate parish activities on the block level.
The first Chairperson was Atty. Linda
Buted. The Movement then (as it is now)
was very active and became the arm of the Parish
in the practice of devotions, sacraments, and
in fund raising campaigns for the construction
of the church, the Parish Center and Retreat House,
and the Adoration Chapel, among others.
The second Chairperson of the Block Rosary Movement
was Dra. Beatrice Caguiat. During
her term, the Movement became more expansive and
unified.
Kuya Aster and Ate Sally Rea
became the third Chair couple. Their contributions
to the Movement include the following: the “Biblia
sa Bawat Bahay”, the Holy Hour every Thursday
evening from 7:00 to 9:00, and the daily Family
Rosary. During their term, the Block Rosary Communities
actively working for the Parish numbered 100,
and included Sta. Lucia, now Sta. Lucia Parish;
Mapayapa, now Divine Mercy Parish; North Fairview,
now Divine Savior Parish; and Don Jose, Doña
Carmen, Don Fabian and Ideal Subdivision, now
Holy Trinity Parish.
Bro. Queruben delos Reyes was
the fourth Chairman. During his term, the communities
became even more united and better organized.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated in each community
at least once a month.
Kuya Jun and Ate Josie Bicencio
became the fifth Chaircouple. In their own way,
they introduced new faces to the community and
coordinated their activities with the Parish.
Thereafter, Kuya Sat and Ate Glo Bautista
became the sixth Chaircouple. Now on its 30th
year of existence, the Movement continues to play
a major role in building a parish community where
families are united in prayer and devotion to
the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother are renewed.
The joy and pride of the Block Rosary Movement
lie in the families who form the communities.
Healed by the President, each community of more
or less 50 families participate in the weekly
family prayer and other liturgical devotions,
and the monthly street Masses where families experience
Christian Renewal as they join in the celebration
of the Eucharist.
