Upon
entering the church, one is awed by the
magnificent setting of the elevated sanctuary.
From the main entrance, the majestic stained
glass windows that compose the entire west
end wall of the church greets the beholder.
Measuring twelve meters by fifteen meters
(divided into four parts: the upper two
measure four by five meters and the lower
two measure eight point thirty by give meters),
the stained glass windows send a stream
of color into the church. It reflects its
unconcealed beauty on the altar, the tabernacle,
the fine-tangguile pews and the marble floors.
These windows delineate
the three persons of the Holy Trinity. The
upper-left section depicts an old man with
a long white bear – God the Father.
The loving expression on His face inspires
and rouses one to deep prayer. The figure’s
pointing finger leads the eye to the image
of Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd at the
lower-right section. Portrayed as an adult
shepherd, this figure possesses the same
loving expression as He looks down over
the sheep. On the upper-right section, the
image of the Holy Spirit surrounded by four
cherubim towers; while the lower left section
portrays the flock of sheep set in a colorful
landscape.
The four-part stained glass
window is partitioned in the middle by a
white cross made of opaque hard plastic.
Bounded by concrete, the cross offers a
symbol of unity where man is reunited with
God. It is through the cross that Jesus
lights the world. Thus, the white cross
spanning the entire wall of the alter, the
image conveys God’s guiding the flock
as it illuminates the church. This pompous
but fitting combination of light, color,
line, religious figures and symbolism leads
the eye to the most important part of the
church – the
altar. |
