The
altar is designed in the same manner God
directed Moses the Israelites to build
his dwelling place and its furnishings
in the Old Testament.
To quote Exodus 27: 1-7
, “You shall make an altar of acacia
wood. It is to also make a table of acacia
wood, a square 7 ½ ft long, and
7 ½ ft wide, and it is to be 4
½ ft high. Make horns (projections)
at the top of the four corners. Plate
it with pure gold and make a molding of
gold around it. Surround it with a frame,
a handbreadth high, with a molding of
gold around the frame. You shall also
make four rings of gold for it and fasten
them at the four corners, one at each
leg, on two opposite sides of the frame
as holders for the poles to carry the
table.” It is for this reason that
the church’s altar was constructed
in the same fashion. For “this church
is the house of God, there will be nothing
wrong if we give God what He wants.”
